• enhance and augment professional skills and abilities to better serve patients and families
• promote the interdisciplinary approach to patient care
• heighten awareness of palliative care in the profession of Social Work in San Diego County
• develop leadership and professional support among those providing social service at SDHPC

Social work students are afforded an opportunity to learn about palliative care and grow professionally through individual and group supervision, inservice education, field experience and networking with peers.

Currently the CPS Social Work education program is providing professional education to three social work students. This will be expanding to six students in the 2004-2005 academic year.
