Julie Prazich, MD is a Medical Director at large at San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care, a teaching affiliate of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She joined the SDHPC Medical Staff in 1995 and has become particularly interested in understanding how medical students and residents express their personal encounter with hospice and palliative care through prose, poetry, and visual art. Julie received a BSc degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1968. She received a MD degree and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, VA in 1975. After practicing Internal Medicine in both solo and group settings for a number of year, Julie accepted a position as Medical Director at Sharp Senior Healthcare. During her tenure at Sharpe Healthcare, she led the development of an outpatient Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) program, was Chief of the Department of Medicine at Sharp Cabrillo Hospital, and a Medical Director for Sharp Home Health. Julie has also been a medical consultant to the San Diego Senior Health Initiative, and served as a consulting physician to the Center for Mind Body Medicine. |
