Jay R. Thomas, MD is a Clinical Medical Director at San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care, a teaching affiliate of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He is particularly interested in academic palliative medicine and research in nociceptive and neuropathic pain, constipation, and dyspnea.

Jay received a BA degree in Biochemistry from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and both MD and PhD degrees in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of California, San Francisco.

Jay completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

He holds an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
