| San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care (SDHPC) maintains an independent Institutional Review Board (IRB) to support research and ensure that the vulnerable population of patients near the end of life are protected. | ||
|
The SDHPC IRB was constituted in 1989 (at the same time that CPS was established). Policies and procedures have been implemented to ensure that the IRB complies with widely-accepted federal research standards , and has strong representation from the community. It meets monthly to evaluate new studies, supervise ongoing research, and educate its members and new researchers.
